E-learning company Riverside Insights needed to know how many students their site could handle. They are one of many e-learning companies who found what they need with RedLine13. This post is about e-learning companies and load testing: Renaissance Learning, ACT, Riverside Insights and Common App.
Renaissance Learning
Renaissance Learning, Inc. is a software as a service and learning analytics company that makes cloud-based, pre-K–12 educational software and adaptive assessments. They moved to AWS to makes sure their applications are scalable and ready for the next phase of growth. The primary reason for moving to RedLine13 was cost as well as the flexibility RedLine13 provides in terms of scaling their performance tests.
Renaissance moved their load tests to the developers to use RedLine13’s API capabilities. They pull RedLine13 results data into ELK stack. They use ELK so that they can manage the test results infrastructure better. And they use Kibana to build dashboards. All of their test plans are hosted in their S3 servers. This provides a combination of security and flexibility since all the load tests run in their own environment. Renaissance has also integrated RedLine13 into their Jenkins pipeline.
Renaissance moved from BlazeMeter to RedLine13 and is saving 90% on their load testing cost.
ACT
The ACT is a standardized test used for college admissions in the United States. You can read articles and watch videos about ACT and RedLine13. ACT had a lot of JMeter scripts in their previous dashboard and their infrastructure was AWS so everything easily moved to RedLine13. You can learn more about ACT’s use of RedLine13 by following the links below. Heath Meyer of ACT spoke recently at LoadTestWorld about Why ACT Moved to RedLine13. Another article talks about ACT’s transition from BlazeMeter to RedLine13.
Riverside Insights
Riverside Insights has found RedLine13 to be very helpful.
It’s not even a question of how it benefited us. We could not have done it without RedLine13. Its features, capabilities and cost structure were all undeniable.
Danilo Ramirez, Riverside Insights
Common App
Common App uses RedLine13 to efficiently verify their targets for system performance during peak activity. Students applying to college often wait until the last minute, and they see tremendous spikes in activity in the last few minutes before application deadlines.
Redline13 is a very cost effective solution that gives us peace of mind that our system will perform as well during those last few minutes as it does the rest of the year.
Dave Tiss, Common App
