SAML SSO (Single sign-on) allows RedLine13 users to log in using SAML enabled identity providers such as Okta, AzureAD and Google. This means users don’t have to keep track of yet another email and password. More importantly, it grants admins the ability to add and revoke user access centrally using your existing identity management tool.
Using SAML SSO also means that you have no limit to the number of users that can access RedLine13.
You have the option of allowing users to log in only through SSO or give users the option to use SSO or standard RedLine13 log in.
SAML SSO Integrations:
- SAML Configuration with OKTA and RedLine13
- SAML Configuration with Azure AD and RedLine13
- SAML Configuration with Google and RedLine13
How SAML works
SAML (Security Assertion Markup Language) is a standard protocol that provides identity providers a secure way to let a service provider, such as RedLine13, know who a user is. It does this by sending RedLine13 a cryptographically signed XML document asserting the user is who they say along with some basic user information.
Once configured, users can authenticate with the following process:
- RedLine13 presents the user with an additional login option, “Login with {name of your provider}”
- The identity provider authenticates the user
- User is granted access to RedLine13
SAML SSO and RedLine13 Users
Anita Gadkari, Automation Lead at ACT, and Alexandre Nerat, Run and Governance Manager for SeLoger, led the SAML SSO integrations with RedLine13 at their respective companies.
ACT has many third-party applications and has SSO integrated into those products. Many engineers work from multiple environments (laptops, AWS WorkSpaces, other devices).
“From a usability standpoint it allows our team members to be more productive by seamlessly accessing RedLine13. From a security standpoint SSO allows user credentials to be managed according to our corporate policies, password strength, reset, expiration policy, etc. And finally from a maintenance standpoint when an employee is onboarded they will have the access they need to RedLine13 out of the box, and just as important when an employee leaves, their access can be easily be revoked when they are offboarded.”
Anita Gadkari, Automation Lead, ACT
SeLoger, a leader in real estate portals in France, uses SSO for most Cloud Solutions. They use RedLine13 to delegate load tests to their teams.
“SSO is very important to Groupe SeLoger. It is now mandatory for us for every new cloud service. From a security point of view, it’s a way to ensure proper user provisioning. And it also participates in a fluid user experience.”
Alexandre Nerat, Run and Governance Manager, SeLoger
SeLoger also wanted to provide about 200 people with the ability to connect and launch a RedLine13 test. The RedLine13 SAML SSO capability gave them that.
SeLoger has been using RedLine13 for nearly three years and has run more than one thousand load tests for their websites and services. Feature Teams autonomously run load tests. RedLine13 helps setting up and delegating tests, and handles the automation process.
RedLine13 is easy to use and lets us run all of the load tests we need for much less than other tools.
