Our RedLine13 plugin for Jenkins can automate performance testing at build time and in continuous deployment environments. Recently, we extended this with the ability to install publicly available JMeter plugins automatically from within Jenkins. In this brief article, we will explain in a few basic steps how to enable this feature.
Using your browser, navigate to your Jenkins installation and log into the administrative console to follow these instructions:
- Select the pipeline utilizing the RedLine13 plugin that you would like to configure.
- Under your pipeline configuration, locate the “JMeter Properties” section.
- In the “Known Plugins” subsection, enter “jmeterpluginmanager” (all one word) into the “Plugins” box. This will reference the JMeter Plugin Manager which is necessary to download and install other JMeter plugins.
- Click “Save” at the bottom of the configuration page to apply your changes.
After you click on “Save”, please restart Jenkins if you are prompted to do so. Upon the next execution of this pipeline, any publicly listed plugin that is referenced in your target JMX test plan will be automatically downloaded and installed.
