JMeter has become the industry standard for load testing. If you don’t know, JMeter is an Apache project used as a load testing tool for analyzing and measuring the performance of various services, with a focus on web applications. This post will talk about some very different companies and their efforts to scale their JMeter tests.
If you are running JMeter locally and need to simulate many concurrent users, there are limitations on the number of simultaneous users you can run. It depends on the CPU and memory of the machine. Read more about Scaling JMeter.
We spoke with companies that were using JMeter and how it was working for them.
A global leader in webinar-based marketing solutions used JMeter and simply needed something to help them escalate the load.
A French leader in online real estate was using JMeter manually, setting up injectors themselves, had more complex needs. They needed to quickly have test automation for test infrastructure, where they had manual processing before. They also needed to provide teams a way to run and re-run tests autonomously since they had several teams and it was complicated to have “every skill” in each team.
A large multinational pharmaceutical company wanted to leverage JMeter in the cloud and do it themselves. They considered instantiating their cloud environment on Kubernetes, but it turned out to be highly unmaintainable. They looked at BlazeMeter, which was very pricey. For more information on BlazeMeter, read BlazeMeter vs. RedLine13.
A non-profit tried to keep things simple and coordinate among several team members, each running JMeter from their laptop. But they “almost broke the office wifi :)” So they looked at BlazeMeter, but they decided it was too expensive.
Each company had different needs in scaling their JMeter tests, but they all chose RedLine13. And they continue to successfully scale their JMeter tests with RedLine13. The non-profit said that Redline 13 was “so easy to set up, and so inexpensive, it was a no-brainer.”
At RedLine13, our goal is to make the process cheap and simple. RedLine13 has advanced technology to make load testing both cost-effective and straightforward, built on top of AWS. And it’s good to know that we are an AWS Advanced Technology Partner. The result is that running a JMeter test on 2 or 50 servers is the same process when you use RedLine13 and the AWS Cloud.
You can try RedLine13 for free and find out for yourself how easy it is to scale your JMeter tests with RedLine13.
