Here are two stories about their perspectives on load testing in India.
iCIMS
iCIMS, Inc. is a cloud-based human resources and recruiting software company located in the United States. They started their load testing in the United States and eventually built their H-Lab COE Performance team which is located in Hyderabad. This is how their load testing has evolved over the years from small tests run in the US to large tests run in India.
Initially iCIMS utilized AWS workspace accounts to host load generator nodes. While this was suitable for simulating modest cohorts of virtual users, they found it problematic for scaling into the hundreds or thousands of users.
In these cases where they wished to simulate higher numbers of virtual users like 250, 500, or even greater, additional AWS workspace environments were required beyond what they were able to practically manage.
A more efficient way to proceed with their load testing was by using RedLine13. Using this platform they were able to integrate with their AWS environment using an ARN key. This allowed them to instantiate multiple load generator instances which were managed by the RedLine13 service on their behalf. It also supported the use of multiple testing accounts and multiple associated key pairs which was administered by their Cloud-Hosting team.
After this initial setup, they were able to simply upload their existing JMeter script, with RedLine13 automatically provisioning multiple load generator instances for their test runs. These instances are automatically instantiated for the test, and terminated after the test completes. Since each instance only exists for as long as they need it to run the test, it reduces the cost substantially over their prior approach using AWS workspaces. They only pay for the time they need to run their test. The instances can be in the US, India or any other AWS Region.
Results from tests are streamed in real time. Once the test is done, the results are archived and available to view at any time from RedLine13. The JMeter Dashboard report is also generated and available to view online or download, and provides complimentary detailed information about the load test.
Since RedLine13 is used to manage load generator instances in their AWS account, they can scale to any load during their testing.
