Alexander Podelko, who talks and writes about performance-related topics, recently wrote in his latest load testing report that “It appears that Apache JMeter became the most popular load testing tool.” In this report he looked at the state of the load testing space since his previous report five years earlier. And he found that load testers use JMeter the most.
Alexander continued: “Another interesting trend is that JMeter scripts become a de facto standard.”
So we looked at a sample of RedLine13 users’ tests by test type:
Test Type | Test Type Percentage |
JMeter | 84.9% |
Nodejs Custom Test | 6.5% |
Simple | 6.2% |
Gatling | 2.2% |
Replay | 0.2% |
And we found that the RedLine13 data confirms what Alexander wrote about: most load testers use JMeter.
If you’re not familiar with why JMeter has become so popular, read here about Performance Test of Web Application using Apache JMeter.
In addition, JMeter is constantly being updated with new features and fixes. At the time of this post, JMeter 5.2 had just released. RedLine13 supports JMeter 5.2. Once again, RedLine13 was the first to support the newest version of JMeter.
You can go ahead now and load test with JMeter 5.2.
